Hogmanay (Scotland)

Hogmanay is the Scots word for the last day of the year and is synonymous with the celebration of the New Year in the Scottish manner. Famous for the first footing tradition—where the first person to cross your door brings luck—and massive street parties in Edinburgh, it is often a bigger event than Christmas in Scotland. Today we're debating the fresh start—is January 1st a real chance to change, or is it just another day on the calendar?
