When the headteacher of St Jude's Primary School opened the large wooden delivery crates in the school gym, she was expecting to find the children's beautiful watercolours returning from a local framing shop. Instead, she unwrapped several large, highly explicit bronze sculptures. The incredibly inappropriate artwork belonged to a famous modern artist known for celebrating the naked human form.
Because the school's parents' evening was starting in less than twenty minutes, the teaching staff fell into an absolute panic. The deeply frantic teachers desperately tried to cover the massive statues with gym mats and spare school jumpers, but the provocative shapes were simply too large to completely hide. As parents flooded into the hall, they were left completely speechless by the bizarre display.
"I honestly thought the art curriculum had become extremely modern," one confused father admitted while looking at a rather unusual marble statue. Meanwhile, in central London, an exclusive modern art gallery was simultaneously opening wooden crates to find seventy beautiful, slightly messy finger paintings of happy smiling cats and bright yellow sunshine.
"I was absolutely ashamed," explained Mrs Higgins, the school's headteacher, taking a deep breath. "We had parents staring in total disbelief while children were asking very difficult questions about the statues' anatomy! We eventually had to herd everyone into the cafeteria and serve extra biscuits until the delivery company arrived to fix their massive mistake."
The famous modern artist, having heard about the highly unintentional exhibition, thought the entire situation was wonderful. He even offered to officially buy all of the children's finger paintings to hang permanently in his private London gallery.
The school has since confirmed that their next art exhibition will exclusively feature safe, traditional drawings of friendly farm animals, and they will personally transport the artwork in their own cars.
