The Trapped Tourist: Swedish Festival Worker Accidentally Kidnaps Woman in Portable Toilet

A music festival in Gothenburg ended in absolute panic for a Swedish attendee after she was locked inside a portable toilet that was loaded onto a forklift and driven away.

The Trapped Tourist: Swedish Festival Worker Accidentally Kidnaps Woman in Portable Toilet

Music festivals are famous for mud, loud music, and notoriously long queues for the portable toilets. However, for 28-year-old Elin, a simple trip to the conveniences at a Gothenburg rock festival resulted in a highly terrifying and bizarre experience that she will certainly never obliterate.

While Elin was inside the plastic cabin, festival cleanup workers began clearing the site. Failing to check if the cubicle was occupied, a forklift driver drove up, secured the portable toilet onto the metal forks, and lifted it three metres into the air before driving off toward a storage depot.

"Suddenly, the entire toilet started shaking violently and I was thrown against the plastic walls. Then I felt the cabin rise up, and I could hear a loud engine. I realised I was flying! I was absolutely terrified that it was going to tip over," Elin explained, recounting her dramatic ordeal.

Locked inside in complete darkness, Elin desperately began banging on the door and screaming at the top of her lungs. However, the deafening noise of the forklift engine and the general festival cleanup activities completely drowned out her frantic cries for help, temporarily attempting to deprive her of any hope.

The forklift driver drove for nearly ten minutes before finally arriving at the main waste depot. "I had my ear defenders on and the engine was roaring. When I set the cabin down and heard someone screaming from inside, my heart stopped. I felt absolutely sick to my stomach," confessed forklift driver Johan, still looking visibly panic-stricken.

Gothenburg police were quickly called to investigate this major safety blunder. "This was a highly dangerous safety failure that could have ended in a severe tragedy. We are investigating whether proper protocols were followed," stated local police officer Lars, confirming that they are taking the matter very seriously.

Festival organisers have apologised profusely for the major incident. Elin, who was fortunately uninjured, was given a full refund and VIP passes for next year's event. While she can now laugh about it, she admitted she will be extremely wary of using public cabins in the future.

  • Do you think a simple refund and VIP passes are sufficient compensation for Elin's ordeal?
  • Why do you think the cleanup crew failed to check if the toilet was occupied before moving it?
  • What is the worst or most stressful experience you have ever had at a public event?
