Module 2: The Main Event

Unit 11: Let's Get Physical

Body Parts, Action Verbs & Prepositions

💋 Time to stop talking and start doing.

The rules have been set, the dirty talk is flowing smoothly, and now it’s time to get hands-on. But if you're going to brag about your night to your mates tomorrow, you need to know your anatomy. English prepositions are famously difficult, and knowing whether someone grabbed you by the waist or kissed you on the neck can make all the difference between a great story and a confusing mess.

📖 Survival Glossary: Intro Edition

2. Grammar Mechanics: Putting Things in Their Place

When you combine an action verb with a body part, you usually need a preposition to stick them together. The three big ones for physical contact are ON, BY, and THROUGH.

Preposition When to use it Cheeky Example
ON For flat surfaces, resting points, or targets. (lips, cheek, neck, back) "He kissed me on the neck."
"She put her hand on my thigh."
BY When you take hold of a specific part to control or pull someone. (waist, collar, hair) "I grabbed him by the collar."
"He pulled me by the waist."
THROUGH For moving within or between things. (Mostly used just for hair!) "She ran her fingers through my hair."

3. Reading: The Tactile Approach

Notice the action verbs and prepositions Dan and Chloe use to describe the night!

Chloe: OMG. I just got home. Best date ever.
Dan: Details immediately! Was he very tactile?
Chloe: Very. We were in the cab, and he put his hand on my thigh. Then he stroked my cheek.
Dan: Smooth! Did you kiss him?
Chloe: I couldn't wait. I grabbed him by the shirt and kissed him on the lips.
Dan: Yes, Chloe! Taking charge.
Chloe: It got better. He ran his hands through my hair and gave my waist a gentle squeeze. I am obsessed.
