Body Parts, Action Verbs & Prepositions
The rules have been set, the dirty talk is flowing smoothly, and now it’s time to get hands-on. But if you're going to brag about your night to your mates tomorrow, you need to know your anatomy. English prepositions are famously difficult, and knowing whether someone grabbed you by the waist or kissed you on the neck can make all the difference between a great story and a confusing mess.
1. He pulled me closer by wrapping his arms around my .
2. She gave my a cheeky as I walked past her in the kitchen.
3. I love it when someone plays with my hair and gently s the back of my neck.
4. He playfully tried to my bottom lip while we were snogging.
5. Don't me so suddenly, you gave me a fright!
When you combine an action verb with a body part, you usually need a preposition to stick them together. The three big ones for physical contact are ON, BY, and THROUGH.
| Preposition | When to use it | Cheeky Example |
|---|---|---|
| ON | For flat surfaces, resting points, or targets. (lips, cheek, neck, back) | "He kissed me on the neck." "She put her hand on my thigh." |
| BY | When you take hold of a specific part to control or pull someone. (waist, collar, hair) | "I grabbed him by the collar." "He pulled me by the waist." |
| THROUGH | For moving within or between things. (Mostly used just for hair!) | "She ran her fingers through my hair." |
Notice the action verbs and prepositions Dan and Chloe use to describe the night!
1. She closed her eyes and he kissed her softly the forehead.
2. Don't grab me the arm like that, it hurts!
3. I love it when you run your fingers my hair.
Use the vocabulary from the Cheeky Dictionary to complete the physical actions.
1. Ouch! Please don't my lip so hard!
2. As we were watching the movie, he began to gently my arm.
