The Phantom Painter: Bizarre Graffiti Epidemic Hits Bosnian Town

A quiet town in Bosnia is hunting for a serial vandal who is spraying crude drawings of the male anatomy on public buildings and historic walls.

The city of Mostar is famous for its stunning river views and beautiful architecture. Recently, however, local people have been talking about something much less attractive. Over the past month, a mysterious offender has been walking the streets late at night, leaving a trail of graffiti on bus stops, post offices, and local shops.

This is not normal street art or gang symbols. Instead, the criminal is exclusively using bright spray paint to leave crude drawings of the male anatomy on any flat surface they can find. The bizarre epidemic has caused a strong mixture of anger and entertainment among the local population.

Goran, a local bakery owner, is completely exhausted by the situation. "I spend hours scrubbing my shop front, and the very next morning, there is another rude drawing waiting for me when I open up," he said. "It is incredibly frustrating. It costs me money to buy special cleaning chemicals every week."

On the other hand, some younger residents are finding the situation highly entertaining. Matea, a local university student, admitted she was highly amused by the chaos. "To be honest, it is quite funny," she laughed. "The police are taking it so seriously, but at the end of the day, it is just a silly drawing. Someone is clearly having a good laugh at the council's expense."

However, the local government does not share the joke. They view the actions as an fury against the community. Many of the buildings targeted are old stone structures that are easily damaged by harsh paint and cleaning brushes.

"This is a beautiful town with a rich cultural heritage," said Chief Inspector Dragic during a radio interview. "To deliberately deface public property is a crime, regardless of what the image actually is. We will not tolerate it."

In response to the growing number of complaints, the police have increased their night patrols in the city centre. They are actively reviewing security cameras from local businesses, hoping to finally apprehend the phantom painter before they can strike again.
