Giving YOU the chance to SPEAK!!

How I Teach English Online

I’ve been teaching English for over 11 years and I still enjoy it. That’s important, because if the teacher is bored, the students will be bored too. My online lessons are designed to be fun, interesting and full of speaking — on Zoom, Teams and Google Meet.

How an online English teacher plans and teaches lessons

I’ve been teaching English for 11 years – it’s the longest job I’ve ever had. I keep doing it because I genuinely enjoy it. When you stop enjoying something, it’s time for a change. For me, teaching English is still fun.

After many years in the classroom, I’ve developed my own style of teaching that my students and I think is a great combination for success. I’ve discovered that I work best when I’m helping students with their speaking – improving their fluency, accuracy, confidence and how natural they sound.

I give you every opportunity to speak, I share useful, natural language, and I make sure you have a voice for your opinions and ideas. That means we’re not only improving your English, but also your soft skills.

Let’s say I’m like a football manager who goes to a club that’s struggling: I come in, build confidence, get everyone performing better than before… and then I move on to the next team.

I’ve also spent a lot of time working closely with Polish, Russian and Ukrainian speaking students. I know the most common problems and mistakes learners from these language backgrounds make, and I design my lessons to help you fix them.

Four things I always focus on

When I plan and run your lessons, I always think about these four elements. They are at the core of how I teach and why students keep coming back.

Pillar 1
Fun

Learning a language should be fun. If you enjoy something, you want to keep doing it. Even when a topic is serious, I always try to build in moments of humour, interaction and personality so that our lessons feel more like a conversation than a test.

Pillar 2
Interesting

It’s important that what we talk about is interesting for you. Not everyone loves football or finance. I have over 50 different lesson topics, and we choose the ones that match your world. Even if the topic isn’t your favourite, you’ll always have space to share your opinion.

Pillar 3
Speak, speak, speak

The one thing that’s really hard to practise alone is speaking. That’s why my lesson plans are built around giving you as much speaking time as possible – to improve your fluency, accuracy and confidence.

We only have a short time together each week. We use that time wisely: you speak, I listen, guide, correct and support.

Pillar 4
Natural & Native

My goal is to make you feel comfortable and confident, but also to make sure your English sounds natural. As a native speaker, I know what sounds strange – and I’ll tell you.

You’ll hear real questions, real phrases and real-life vocabulary, not artificial textbook sentences. If you have any questions about how I teach, you can always contact me.
