Celebrated on the 13th of July, Embrace Your Geekness Day encourages people to be proud of their obsessions, whether it's coding, comic books, board games, or obscure science fiction. What was once a playground insult has become a badge of honour — today, geek culture dominates the film industry, the tech world, and social media.
Speaking Discussion
- Is it better to be a generalist (knowing a little about everything) or a geek (knowing everything about one thing)?

Activity 1: The Silicon Valley Recruiter
The Task: You are hiring a lead engineer for a secret mars mission. You have two candidates: 1) A perfect leader with no hobbies, and 2) A social disaster who is a world expert on 14th-century plumbing. Argue why the geek is the only one who can save the mission.
Activity 2: Rapid Fire Debate
Justify in 30 seconds: 1. 'Obsession is the only path to genius.' 2. 'The 'Cool Kids' from high school are all working for the 'Geeks' now.' 3. 'We are losing the ability to have 'Casual Interests' because of the internet.'
