Speaking Discussion

  • Are you left-handed or right-handed? Do you know anyone who is left-handed?
  • What everyday objects (like scissors or desks) make life difficult for left-handed people?
  • In the past, some schools forced left-handed children to write with their right hand. Why did they do this?
  • Do you think left-handed people are naturally more creative or artistic?
  • What is a unique physical trait you have that makes you different from the majority?

Activity 1: The Design Debate

Motion: "Companies should be legally required to produce left-handed versions of all essential tools (scissors, power tools, etc.), even if it increases the cost for everyone."

Split into two teams. Team A defends the rights of the minority to have safe and functional tools; Team B argues for economic efficiency and that left-handed people should simply adapt to the right-handed world.

Activity 2: Rapid Fire Sentences

Complete the sentence and justify it in 20 seconds.

  • "One thing I find difficult to do with my non-dominant hand is..."
  • "I think left-handed people are more creative because..."
  • "If I could use both hands perfectly, I would..."
