National Sons and Daughters Day

A day to celebrate the bond between parents and their children. While it sounds simple, the parent-child relationship is the foundation of our personality and our future. Today, we debate the pressure of family expectations, how parenting has changed in the digital age, and the complex challenge of building your own identity while respecting your family's legacy.

A family bonding and sharing a moment

Speaking Discussion

  • What is the single most important lesson your parents taught you, and do you still follow it today?
  • Do you think modern children are softer than children from 50 years ago, or are they just facing different challenges?
  • How much influence should parents have over their children's career and relationship choices?
  • Why is it often so difficult for parents and children to understand each other's perspectives (the generation gap)?
  • Do you think parents should be their children's best friends, or should there always be a clear boundary of authority?
  • If you could give one piece of advice to your future children (or your younger self), what would it be?
