World Teachers' Day
Held annually on October 5th since 1994, World Teachers' Day commemorates the anniversary of the 1966 signing of the UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. It is a day to celebrate how teachers are transforming education and to reflect on the support they need. Today we're debating the AI teacher—will robots eventually replace humans in the classroom? We explore the heart of learning and the future of the school.
Speaking Discussion
- Who was the one teacher who changed your life, and what did they do?
- Can a robot or AI truly teach a language as well as a human can?
- Why are teachers in many countries underpaid despite being so important to society?
- Is the traditional school system dead, or do we still need classrooms?
- What is the number one quality that makes a teacher great?
