Module 2: The Main Event

Unit 10: Fifty Shades of Grammar

Imperatives & Commands

💋 Time to get bossy.

You’ve asked politely using your modals, but sometimes, you just need to take charge. The Imperative is the simplest grammatical form in the English language because there are no subjects and no confusing conjugations. It’s just pure action. Whether you are feeling a bit bossy or completely submissive, let’s learn how to issue commands in the bedroom.

2. Grammar Mechanics: Drop the Subject

To form an imperative, we completely drop the subject (I, you, he, she). We just use the base verb. It is direct and powerful.

Form The Rule Cheeky Example
Positive (+) Base verb. No subject. "Take your shirt off."
"Look at me."
Negative (-) Always use Don't + base verb. (Never use "No"). "Don't move."
"Don't stop."
Suggestions (Let's) Add Let's before the verb to soften the command into a sexy suggestion. "Let's try something new."

3. Reading: Following Instructions

Ben: Yes, boss. Are you feeling a bit dominant tonight?

Ben: I'm looking. You're such a tease.
